Full Degree Bachelor Programmes in Danish

B. Ed. programme for primary and lower secondary school teachers

The objective of the B. Ed. programme for primary and lower secondary school teachers is to train teachers for the primary and lower secondary school and to provide a basis for further training. 

The teacher-training programme takes 4 years to complete, corresponding to 240 points in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS points). A student’s fulltime work for one year corresponds to 60 ECTS points.

The programme consists of the following for all students:

  1. Educational subjects in the form of general educational theory, psychology and educational science (a total of 33 ECTS points) 
  2. Christian studies/life enlightenment/citizenship (17 ECTS points) 
  3. 2 or 3 main subjects (a total of 144 ECTS points) 
  4. A Bachelor of Education project (10 ECTS points) 
  5. Teaching practice (36 ECTS points)

Bachelor Degree in Leisure Management

Bachelor Degree in Social Education

The education programme for a Bachelor Degree in Social Education is geared towards the entire educational occupational area, with specialisation within a specific occupational, functional or academic field.

The programme of education lasts 3½ years, amounting to 210 ECTS credits, and consists of formal teaching at the educational institution as well as practical training at relevant institutions. There are three periods of practical training during the programme. The total amount of time of the education programme spent on practical training amounts to 1 year and 3 months.

The programme is to provide professional qualifications for working with development and care assignments within the following areas: children and young people (including working in day nurseries, daycare centres, pre-school classes, recreation centres/school-based leisure time facilities, after school clubs, 24-hour service institutions), institutions for children, young people and adults with reduced psychological or physical capacities, adults with social problems (homelessness, substance abuse, mental disorders), family institutions, and child and youth psychiatric hospitals. Additionally, the education provides qualifications for working in the field of crime prevention in, for example, neighbourhoods as well as working within the Prison and Probation Service.

The programme of education consists of the following subjects and academic elements:

  • Educational theory and practice
  • Danish, culture and communication
  • Individual, institution and society
  • One of the following main subjects according the student’s own choice:
    a) Health, the body and exercise
    b) Expression, music and drama
    c) Arts and crafts, science and technology
  • Practical training
  • Specialisation within one of the following occupational or functional fields:
    a) Children and young people
    b) People with reduced functionality
    c) People with social problems

At the conclusion of the education programme each student must complete a bachelor project.

Bachelor in Physiotherapy

The aim of the Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy is to provide the student with the necessary qualifications to work independently as a physiotherapist and participate in multidisciplinary, professional collaboration upon completion of the degree programme. 

The degree programme should provide the student with the necessary theoretical and clinical physiotherapeutic qualifications for physiotherapy practice in accordance with societal, scientific and technological developments and the needs of the population.

Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Science

The programme is a 3½ year full time degree focusing on Biomedical Laboratory Science.

In accordance with the Ministry of Education Executive Order no. 652 of 29/06/2009, the purpose of the programme as Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Science is to qualify the graduate to function as an independent Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Science and enter into a professional and cross-professional cooperation.

The programme must, in accordance with the social, scientific and technological development as well as the public need for biomedical analyses, qualify the student within the bio-analytical knowledge area.

A Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Science studies Science and medical science, medical laboratory technology, social science and humanities.

This programme is taught only in Danish.

Bachelor of Nutrition and Health

The programme is a 3½ year full time degree focusing on health and nutrition.

In accordance with the Ministry of Education Executive Order no. 491 of 11/05/2010, the purpose of the programme as Bachelor of Nutrition and Health is to qualify the graduate to independently plan, organise and carry out tasks in health and nutrition with a view to national and international employment in private and public companies.

A Bachelor of Nutrition and Health studies one of the following directions:a) Health promotion and prevention b) Clinical dietetics c) Management, food and service

Bachelor of public administration

The programme is a 3½ year full time degree focusing on public administration.

The bachelor degree programme aims to turn out graduates who can become the backbone of public administration and the tasks it faces.

The degree programme qualifies students, in theory and in practice, to handle the complexity of tasks in public administration. It also qualifies graduates to move on to relevant higher education programmes, such as a Master in Public Administration.

Successful completion of the degree programme entitles the graduate to the Danish title of 'Professionsbachelor i offentlig administration'. The English title is 'Bachelor of Public Administration'.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This programme is taught only in Danish.

On completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, the student is qualified to work as a practitioner of nursing and to enter into multidisciplinary collaboration.

The Bachelor of Science in nursing program lasts 3½ years and comprises a total of 210 ECTS points.

The programme provides the student with the necessary grounding in both theoretical and clinical aspects of nursing in compliance with the general development of society, science and technology as well as the demands for nursing in the general population.

 The student acquires the following qualifications: 

1)      The ability to perform, communicate and manage nursing in the areas of health promotion, health maintenance, prevention as well as treatment, rehabilitation and relief,

2)      The ability to assess, argue for and develop the professional activities in relation to the patient,

3)      The ability to cooperate with the patient, relatives, colleagues and other professionals independently of their ethnic, cultural, religious or linguistic background,

4)      The ability to develop and renew the practice of nursing, as well as to apply existing knowledge in new contexts as well as follow, apply and participate in research projects within the healthcare area,

5)      The ability to participate in theoretical and practical continuing education courses and degree programs after completing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme.

Graduates are entitled to use the title Bachelor of Science in Nursing (nurse). The holder of this degree is authorised in accordance with the act of the Danish Parliament on authorisation of healthcare staff and health professional activities. 

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme is profession-based and development-based.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme is organised to allow professional, academic and innovative competences to develop in a dynamic interaction between theory and practice.

Bachelor of Social Work

The programme is a 3½ year full time degree focusing on social work.

In accordance with the Ministry of Education Executive Order no. 766 af 24/06/2011, the purpose of the programme as Bachelor of Social Work is to qualify the graduate to carry out tasks within social work.

The graduate must independently and across professions and sectors be able to contribute to the prevention and solution to social problems as well as plan, coordinate, carry out, evaluate and develop social work efforts on the level of the individual, groups, organization and society within the public sector including the employment area, institutional area and in private auspices.

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy

The programme is a 3½ year full time Professional Bachelor’s degree focusing on occupational therapy.

The aim of the Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy is to provide the student with the necessary qualifications to work independently as an Occupational Therapist and participate in multidisciplinary, professional collaboration upon completion of the degree programme.
